Overview

HV Transition Joints Done Right

A transition joint connects two sections of cable with different construction – different insulation systems, different materials, or different generations of infrastructure – without replacing the entire cable run.

It’s technically demanding work. The tolerances are tight, the consequences of getting it wrong are significant, and most HV contractors won’t take it on. Many refer it directly to us.

We carry out transition joint work across a range of cable types and configurations, including specialist paper lead to XLPE transitions – a capability very few contractors in Queensland offer. If you’ve been told it can’t be done, talk to us.

Our Capabilities

High Voltage Paper Lead to XLPE Transition Joints

We carry out transition joints on medium and high voltage cable up to 66kV across mining, renewables, industrial, and infrastructure sites throughout Queensland and Australia-wide.

Transition joint work is typically required when:

  • Existing paper lead cable is being extended or modified
  • New XLPE cable is being connected into an ageing network
  • Legacy infrastructure is being upgraded in stages rather than replaced entirely

We assess each scope on its specifics and carry out the work to manufacturer specification, every time.

Testing & QA Included

Full Testing & QA Package Included by Default.

    QA Package Included

Every transition joint we carry out is tested by the same team that installed it. Our dual-qualified electricians and cable joiners verify the work on site – VLF, hi-pot, insulation resistance – whatever the job requires.

You’ll receive a full QA package covering the installation and test results. Everything you need for compliance, asset records, and handover.

    Why It Matters

Most cable joiners aren't licensed electricians. That means when transition joints are done, you need to organise a separate testing contractor to verify the work - a second schedule, a second invoice, and more time on site.

Our team holds both qualifications. Every termination we install, we test before we leave - saving you time and money.
